How to compress a video
- Upload an MP4, WebM or another browser-readable video.
- Choose a Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, YouTube, Email or Custom preset.
- Adjust resolution, framing, FPS, quality or an approximate target size.
- Compress, preview the processed MP4, then download.
Social media presets
Facebook and Instagram Reel presets use a vertical 9:16 frame. You can choose Fit with borders to keep the entire picture or Fill & Crop to fill the vertical canvas. Standard Facebook, Instagram and YouTube presets keep the source aspect ratio unless you change it.
Target file size
Target size is approximate because video complexity and audio consume part of the bitrate. Toolorix checks whether a requested target is practical for the video duration and may make a second encoding pass when the first result is above the requested size.
Browser processing limits
Video compression is CPU- and memory-intensive. Large or 4K files can be slow on phones. Keep the tab open during processing and use a desktop browser for very large videos.
